Dr Carl Amrhein

Dr Carl Amrhein joined as AKU’s Provost and Vice President, Academic on October 8, 2017. Dr Carl Amrhein's academic career began at the State University of New York at Buffalo 1980 as a graduate student. He worked for a brief period at the University of Kentucky. In 1993, he joined the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor, became the Chair of the Department of Geography and Graduate Program in Planning and later rose to the position of Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science in 1997. In 2003, Dr Amrhein joined the University of Alberta as its Provost and Vice President (Academic), a post he held until 2014. During this period at the University of Alberta, Dr Amrhein played a critical role to guide the university to achieve international ranking.
